Olympic National Park

Well, as you can see from this postcard, I’m on a weekend trip in the Olympic Rain Forest with my new friends. We’re having a blast! Did you know that they have a rain forest close to Seattle? We are camping in the wettest spot in the continental United States! It’s different from our rain forests in Brazil. At home, it’s hotter and more uncomfortable. It’s also more colorful. Here, everything is just green. But the most surprising thing is the trees--they are the biggest trees I’ve ever seen! All my clothes are wet, but it doesn’t matter. Every night we build a campfire to dry out. We also cook our dinner over the campfire. Sometimes we burn our food, but we’re so hungry that it’s the most delicious food we’ve ever tasted! There are also more dangerous snakes and other animals in Brazil. The most dangerous animal I’ve seen here is a black bear. He didn’t bother us at all. We can be more relaxed because we don’t have to worry about poisonous snakes here. After dark, we sit around the campfire telling scary stories. I have heard some of the scariest stories of my life this week! I wish you were here. I know you would love this camping trip!

Love,
Adriana
