Improve your written English language skills in science and industry contexts!
The focus of this certificate program is on improving English language skills in documents typically written in science and industry. The goal of this two-course online program is to help you improve your ability to:

  • Write definitions
  • Explain procedures
  • Present data
  • State comparisons and cause-effect relationships
  • Propose solutions with appropriate English vocabulary and grammar structures
  • Edit your own work for errors in grammar, vocabulary, and consistent format
Each course includes interactive online exercises, short assignments to send to the instructor, detailed one-on-one feedback, and an individualized final writing project.

After successfully completing both ESCI N160 and N170, you will receive a certificate from University of Washington Extension.
