Course Introductions
ESCI 160 and 170 are designed to provide international professionals with an opportunity to improve their English language ability as they write technical documents.
In ESCI 160, the focus is on writing technical definitions, procedures, and presentations of data. In ESCI 170, it is on stating comparisons and cause-effect relationships and on proposing solutions.
Both courses will increase your understanding of appropriate design and writing style for English science and industry contexts. You will also improve your ability to edit their own work for grammar, vocabulary, and style problems.
In the last three weeks of the quarter, you will work on an individualized project related to your field or work situation.
